Robertino is a Filipino-Australian director and designer with over 15 years experience working in film, animation and design between Sydney, New York and Silicon Valley.
His multidisciplinary approach as director and designer developed during his time at R/GA New York from 2008 - 2012, working on a diverse range of animation projects and digital products for clients including Nike, Google, Beats, and Verizon. His work with the team at the R/GA Digital Studio has won multiple Cannes Lions, including the award-winning health & fitness tracking Nike+ Fuelband product.
In 2012, Robertino returned to Sydney, working as a director at animation studio Mighty Nice and founding Kapwa, a boutique design and animation studio, which now provides content production and creative consulting services to clients from Sydney to London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
Robertino has gained international success as a director and producer for the film Love in the Time of March Madness—Kapwa’s first in-house original production—which won at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014 and was eventually shortlisted for the Oscars in 2016 for the Best Animated Short category.
In 2019, Robertino directed TED-Ed “Accents”, which won the Bronze Cube at the 98th Annual ADC Awards, and won the Cristal for a Commissioned Film at Annecy International Animation Festival.
Since then, Robertino's film work has screened at over 30 film festivals worldwide, including making Offical Selection five times at the Annecy International Animation Festival. Robertino has created feature work for ESPN, National Geographic, and Adult Swim.
Robertino continues to create original content and commercial projects, dabble in new technologies, and experiment with new art forms.
